When I was 11 I hung up the front page of the newspaper that said osama had been killed

Watched this again recently when I was hungover. Super interesting to see how someone as notorious as Osama Bin Laden was only caught because of swashbuckling investigators who collected little bits of information from informants over the course of a decade. super well done and Jessica Chastain is fantastic as usual.

Watched this again recently when I was hungover. Super interesting to see how someone as notorious as Osama Bin Laden was only caught because of swashbuckling investigators who collected little bits of information from informants over the course of a decade. super well done and Jessica Chastain is fantastic as usual.

Jessica Chastain slowly looking more run down as the movie progresses, but serving more with each year is so key to the structure of the movie. 

I think this movie is a lot more tolerable if you go into it with the understanding that there is so some US military propaganda. The movie isn’t particularly egregious, and I do think they try to make a commentary on the way the United States was going about things, but any movie tied to the events of 9/11 are going to fall a little short on that front.

All of that being said, I didn’t think this was a terrible movie. Chastain is doing most of the heavy lifting to bring this movie from good to great, but I do think the support cast of intelligence of officers and suspects do a nice job at helping her in the front half. Bigalow continues to have a really unique directing style and I think she always has some really interesting cinematography; some of the night vision scenes from act 3 are so cool.
