beautiful and dreamy set design. visuals that are reminiscent of 70s fantasy and videodrome, creating a picture of an alice in wonderland but on acid. a very creative concept of familial imbalance being told through a child’s dreams. all of the back and forth yelling and screaming translates to a nightmare of confusion and death. flashing moments of happiness are her only saviors as that’s what’s left for her survive on.
i really loved the editing style with the visual elements, it really brought the fear and amazement in the world to life. the world being embodied by her life’s joys and struggles, has very good interpretations. but what’s funny is that it took a little girl to fall down the stairs and get into a coma for her parents to get along.
the visuals are fucking amazing but the pacing for this film is not good at all. it’s only 90 mins long but feels like it goes on for ages. i found myself closing my eyes after one long sequence. and i don’t know if it’s just me but there were cutting between some sequences that are just odd, like it was continuing a tv episode but the sequence never changes place or feels out of place.
