A team of parapsychologists sets out to investigate a series of anomalous phenomena taking place in a newly occupied apartment. Telephone calls with no caller, mysterious shadows, extraordinary light emissions, flying objects, and exploding light bulbs are some of the events they will face while recording their every step with state-of-the-art technology. Using infrared filming, digital photography, psychophonic recordings, movement detectors, and magnetic field alteration meters, the group’s attempts to contact the “other side” will grow increasingly dangerous as they near a point of no return.

I don't even know man. This movie must take place in a world where ghosts and paranormal activity is 100% real and accepted by the masses who have seen millions of videos of this shit caught on tape because no one is reacting like this shit is anything special. We don't get the usual scene where our characters say "Holy Shit! We caught a full body apparition on camera! We're going to be rich and famous! What a huge breakthrough for our field!". From the way it's shot with many scenes playing at what seems to be 1.5X speed, to the story that just doesn't make sense, to the very unlikable characters that aren't acted particularly well (especially that kid), to the bad effects, and finally the unforgivably bad sound mixing that has some dialog impossible to hear (luckily I watch every movie with the SDH subtitles on). It's almost infuriating to watch. The ghost hunting team have controllable cameras and in one scene, we see an item moving on the left wall and the characters, instead of zooming in on the activity or pan left to frame it better, they pan all the way right, as if they can see the future and saw that something better would be happening down that hall in a few minutes. It's dumb shit like that (which this movie is overflowing with) that either make you laugh at the film for its sheer incompetence or initiate the internal debate whether or not to just give up, save yourself from further anger, and just stop watching. Apartment 143 gets progressively worse and by the end I still don't think I understand what they were trying to say happened. It's bad. Not good-bad, just regular bad.
