“Time destroys everything”
Irreversible directed by Gaspar Noé is a masterpiece. This film is tragically beautiful and it’s perfectly executed. Irreversible first of all has some of the best cinematography i have ever seen in a movie, the whole film is so unique and it’s hard to take your eyes away from it, the editing in this film is also amazing and there is not a single flaw within it. I love the choice of this film being put together backwards since it really fits the opening quote of “Time destroys everything” since we see the shocking opening scene unravel into its real meaning, which is done so perfectly. The score in this film is fire and it gives an eerie feel which fits the atmosphere perfectly. This film has some phenomenal acting from Vincent Cassel and his emotions feels so real to the events that are happening, and Monica Bellucci who played Alex was perfect especially since she had such a challenging role in this film. The effects in this movie (mainly for the tunnel scene and opening club scene) is terrifying, gross, and looks so real. The ending of this movie is also so beautiful and it makes the film so devastating at the end. This film could easily be one of my favorites of all time, I do not think this film is for everyone since it’s plot can be rough for a lot of people, and since it is a scene in the movie that drags for a bit, except it’s easily skipable and its in there to show the true depth of this tragedy taking place and the scene is haunting and disturbing for 9 minutes long, but just because you’re uncomfortable doesn’t mean you should hate a movie completely. but i see people comparing this to Salò which is not true at all and I can’t wait to check out more of Gaspar Noé filmography.
