been meaning to watch this one for a while. a tragic, yet unfortunately realistic, tale of how poverty and the conditions that come with it can drive people to such extreme lengths in order to have a shelter and food over them. i was so invested in the story, the actors were great but it completely lost me in the last thirty minutes because of the age inappropriate and baseless love story that’s suddenly added into the story. i found it to be completely irrelevant to the plot and, frankly extremely unnecessary. but apart from that, it really is a great independent film. heartbreaking, touching, hopeful.

EDIT- Revisionist history — I’m still thinking about this and I love it. What an incredible true story. Warning this was more a movie about Cuba and the strength of Cuban people the aids.
