probably the “weakest” film of the trilogy but still very fantastic. crazy amounts of despair, hopelessness, anxiety, and despair as Hirohito knew one way or another what fate was in store for his country, it fucking sucks the dude himself never saw any real justice though, he shouldve been dropped into nanjing so the people of that city could’ve delivered the consequences of his heinous actions like he deserved.

A lot of this movie can be a very interesting character study about Hirohito, for how he interacts with the world around him and the world around him interacts. Ogata does a wonderful job keeping an interesting and much watch performance going on throughout the picture. But for all the interesting things Ogata does or the story focuses on, the movie as a whole falters in plenty of other places. The movie looks like it was shot for 1990 tv movie. Ogata does this thing with his mouth through out that is incredibly distracting(if Hirohito really did that than my bad but still very distracting. The color scheme works great for the mood, the but the camera work is not good, not the way it was shot or the editing of scenes. Robert Dawson places General MacArthur but doesn’t seem good in the role. But even with the faults the movie is still a very interesting and good watch
