one of the ugliest movies i’ve ever seen. a world constantly viewed through grimy lens hardly ever letting the sun shine. with unpleasant cinematography that’s not meant for breathtaking sights or symbolic framing but for gore to ridiculously splash out.
blending in practical gore and special effects gore to make for a scene that oddly works. the grimy world surrounding the camera is also interestingly enough either computer generated or some random abandoned area. and they make good use of what they have to deal with.
there’s always those special elements in the production to these trashy films with bad acting, writing and cinematography.
i found this film to be very interesting and funny at times. selling your soul to the devil to give you superhuman powers as it lives in your back. with a motive to kill while at the same time no motive, he just kills people hoping for a clue but these people are half dead (which they should be dead with their torsos torn off). at one point he chun-li kicks someone’s face and it made for a very gruesome yet hilarious scene.
the first half is very good, just gore upon gore galore. like a violent video game where you could smash people’s heads in for whatever reason. but the second half kinda drags, it tries to get deep and introduces a new character. but let’s be honest these guys can’t make a deep dramatic film.
i love exploring low budget absurd trashy films like this one. as much as i love films with genuinely amazing filmmaking that makes me realize why i love films and how i got into it in the first place. badly made films like these make me wanna make films despite how little experience i have.
