it was kind of a mess, but an interesting one. the style is cranked up to 100, super fast cuts, saturated colors, text flying on screen and after a while it just gets exhausting. tony scott definitely went all-in here, but it felt like too much for me.
there’s a cool story buried under all the chaos, and some of the moments are genuinely fun or intense, but it’s hard to care when the editing won’t sit still for more than two seconds. i liked keira knightley in the role, but everything around her felt loud for the sake of being loud.
it’s not boring, i’ll give it that but i just think it’s too stylish for its own good.
