Doing a Marvel watchthrough at home, not in theaters, as a non-Marvel or CBM fan already sets it up for failure, and I had that realization today.
Almost all of the corny jokes in this had my face as straight as ever but I feel like in a theater setting, packed out crowd, with jokes breaking the tension (as I assume that's why Marvel's humor is the way it is) might land better. So, I do give it the benefit of the doubt there.
That's not to say I didn't enjoy this in many moments. As I referenced in my first review of The Avengers, there IS something special about the band being together, from the strategic discussions in the control rooms, to the dramatic moments at the Homestead, to fighting in climactic sequences.. all with the theme and score piercing the background, it is pretty special.
Mark Ruffalo is still SOOOOOOOOO BADDDDDDD #IMissYouEdwardNorton
