Do Not Enter
Urban exploration horror can be very fun and interesting. There are movies that do it right and even scary like as above so below, grave encounters and and gonjiam haunted asylum. You even get fun ones like dead stream. Do not enter isn't the best in this genre but there are still some entertaining elements. So let's enter and talk about do not enter.
What works with do not enter is the location. The haunted hotel looks good. It reminded me of an until dawn location mixed with house on haunted hill 1999. Exploration the hotel was cool too and I like the video tape scene.
The monster here is very interesting in concept but the ideas behind the monster is a little to much. So I like the origin and explanation but the ritual is to much. A monster left abandoned is enough here in my opinion. The monster looks cool too. His movements and attacks are done well too.
Now for the characters. For the most part they are all likeable. The stand outs were Cora, frank and Diane. Cora had a fun personality, Diane's situation made her story the most interesting and frank looking for his wife brings some heart. The other 2 urban explorers were fine. Not the most interesting but entertaining enough. The bad urban explorers were unnecessary and was just a distraction.
Having social media stars as leads can go 2 ways. The one being a little cringey and the other likeable and fun in the right ways. An example of an entertaining one being the main character from deadstream. The social media aspect here is done fine. The characters were all entertaining enough if not a bit cliche.
So in the end do not enter is a entertaining enough movie. It's definitely got its flaws and cliche elements. The monster looks cool and his background for thr most part works. The characters were definitely done better before in better movies but they are likeable enough. So I did like do not enter and had a fun time watching it. It's just not the best movie like this out there.
