This 9-minute short film commercial is brough to you by BMW. It can be watched here: Beat the Devil (2002)
Beat the Devil is an adrenaline and dopamine driven chaotic mosaic of film bits edited together to create frenetic pace with minimal story. It features James Brown and the BMW E85 Z4 with neither getting enough air time to establish any feeling of story or connection.
This short film was directed by Tony Scott (of Top Gun and True Romance fame) and definite touches of David Fincher who was also involved with the project.
Since this is supposed to be an all out action sequence film, it is perhaps against logic that my feeling that it would have been much better and just as exciting if they slowed it down a bit.
This short film is from my list featuring commercials that, for some reason, are on Letterboxd. Check it out at: [More after this… Commercials on Letterboxd](https://boxd.it/Ah0yc)
