The first part is pretty good, but the second half has pacing issues and some other things. For example, I felt like it ended up focusing more on the interior minds of the Legion with Kiri, whose motivations get a little confusing. Lena disappears for basically the entire second half, and whenever she shows up again, it feels like there are missing plot points. Plus, the Republic falls and gets partially retaken entirely offscreen, which feels odd because we spent the entire first half there, and also seeing the characters defending and escaping it. Sometimes the 3D models looked a little strange. There was a moment in the early episodes where I remember it becoming downtime really quickly, that got dangerously close to fanservice, that almost made me wary of how the rest would be. Thankfully, it balances the downtime more naturally, incorporating the story instead of fanservice.
Despite the issues, I most definitely need another season of this and will gladly join the fandom in its false hope. I have never been more eager to listen to an audiobook, especially of a light novel.
Also, just something I noticed: why on Earth does episode 23 have 3 different ending songs?
