Such a refreshing and beautiful drama. Let me start by saying the songs chosen are amazing. The first 3 seconds and bam, you are transported in 1987 at hosus university. The piano, the theme song really was perfection. I listen to it on a daily basis and it really allowed me to feel everything the show had to offer. Whether it’s sadness, joy, love or anger, you feel it in your bones. I cried so much. but it’s okay, it’s when you feel things that you know that the show is good.
Gorgeous Jisoo is such a wonderful actress. I really love jung hae-in too. now let’s talk about the plot: from the very beginning you are hooked.

now the best scene, the kiss scene. I have watched a lot of kdramas, and when I say a lot it’s a lot. I never seen such a perfect flawless 10/10 first kiss. The buildup that I didn’t see coming, the music, him going to her, asking her to drink the coffee and to forget. forget what you ask? THE KISS AHAHAHAAAA
I loved it, felt it in my bones and in my heart. Truely beautiful.
also the fact that every employee working in the dorm is either an ANSP agent or a north spy blew my mind. The one that surprised me the most was kim man-dong. And when the sleeping walking girl found out I was so fucking stressed for her?? she was so smart to hide it by trying to make it seem like she sleepwalked but still he followed her and almost killed her. Mindblowing.
why did they make the camarades die. They were on the boat, they could’ve had gone away with it. No. just a sniper, 2 bullets and they’re gone. How. Why. WHY. this really made me pause the series and think while staring at my celling for half an hour about how, with weaponds today, one click and you're gone. everything you lived and fought for in your life, gone in a second. I can't accept their death. I loved them so much. I hate it. The old man is the character I hate the most in the whole cinematic universe. No other words.
the last thing he did was push her out of the way so that she didn’t get hit by the bullets. his last words were yeong-ro you need to live whether its hard or not okay? and he handed her his tape to annihilate me even more. I knew it was going to happen since I already watched it but it hurts, it still hurts so much.
What breaks my heart the most is asking myself what will yeong-ro do now. she lost everyone. She must feel so alone. What will she do now? that unanswered question will stay the biggest mystery ever in my heart.
at least gangmu got his happy ending but its not enough.
and at the dorm everything was built up again. Just like nothing happened. That’s mindblowing. Nothing happened. But for yeong-ro, it will be engraved forever. This voice message was the best thing that he could give her. A true confession that she can keep forever. The first time he ever said i love you.
