I knew next to nothing about Doctor Zhivago and was captivated enough by the setting and historical plot lines, as well as the solid performances. Sam Neil is easy to hate while you constantly hope that Keira Knightly and Hans Matheson’s character can just make it to the next scene alive to be together already! However, damn is this movie depressing.
PS: I’m also only now realizing this is a remake of a 1965 classic with Omar Sharif and Julie Christie… my wife suggested we watch Doctor Zhivago but didn’t specify a release date, so now I’m wondering if she was referring to the original?
