I poured my heart into this review so yall better read it🫡.
After almost a year, I watched it again, and it reminded me that it really is my favorite series. Even tho a lot of people think its a waste of time and full of plot holes, I have to admit they are partly right. There are definitely a lot of plot holes, but overally you can still read between the lines.
Jun-o is a psychopath, maybe not from birth, maybe he was, but the main reason is definitely his parents. They neglected him, abandoned him emotionally, and never really paid attention to him, cuz they were never home. Sum, on the other hand, was a psychopath from birth (trying to strangle her mother without guilt or empathy. I understand her syndrome also plays a role in that), but she grew up in a loving environment and was raised feeling loved.These two found their way to each other, cuz of Sums curiosity and honestly it was only a matter of time before one psychopath would eventually overpower the other one. Even tho Jun-o didnt really seem capable of that(via the last scene at sums house in ep 8).
Tbh, when I watched it for the first time, the ending made absolutely no fucking sense to me. Sum protected him the whole time, even after he destroyed her chatbot, attacked and nearly killed her friend, and then she suddenly kills him? After thinking about it, I realized Sum was the only person who could truly hurt him, and thats exactly what happened. The police, tho.., like in almost every movie/series were completely useless. A serial killer like Jun-o wouldnt stay free for even two days in real life, hes a fucking amateur(even I would been better killer). Gi-eun clearly has some massive attachment issues, because this was fucking insane. Jun-o almost kills her, and then she goes to meet him ALONE a second time just so he can almost kill her again. “Sexiest Korean cop”? Nahh, more like “dumbest Korean cop.” But at the same time, I partly understand her. He was prob the first person who made her feel ‘seen’ and loved after her incident.By the end, you can really see that Sum is a psychopath, because after killing someone (SHE LOVED BTW) she goes to work and just plays game as if nothing happened. Crazy. I was also really fascinated by her Asperger syndrome. Im so mad that The Eccentric Child book that was mentioned is fictional, because I would have loved to read it and understand her feelings more deeply. Even tho Jun-o killed many people, I still felt empathy for him in the end, and I even cried. At least he died in love, and the last face he saw while dying was Sums. 🤍
