I finally got around to watch this! Ever since this came out it’s been on my radar. It’s a very interesting story but admittedly niche in appeal. The main gist of the story is that this production is remaking the 100+ year old French serial Les Vampires. I was kinda dragging my feet on this one but it actually really pleasantly surprised me! This series has some really great insight into the modern Hollywood landscape. The fact that our lead’s previous film, in the context of the show, was actually named Doomsday was kinda insane. The best sequences in the show, for me, were when they’d show us a clip from the original Les Vampires and then we would see how they remake it and eventually see the remade scene. They wisely address the film version but Maggie Chung’s shadow looms LARGE over this show. Overall i ended up really enjoying this show. I think it’s a massive treat for anyone who already know Irma Vep but could also be appreciate by film heads in general. It has the spooky undertone which fucking rocks. All the performances are surprising strong and have depth. I really do want to watch the original serial. Quite the hidden gem on max! If anyone is thinking about watching this totally give it a shot! Definitely check out the movie first to see if this is your vibe or not
