This show is pure nostalgia.
The cinematographers and writers created this gorgeous visual language of nostalgia, like the grainy film reels, the handwritten letters, the way the camera is absolutely perfect?
And god, the music. They’re those exact melodies that instantly make you relive a moment that feels like this.
But what really makes this show so special is how much compassion it has for its characters. Even when they make mistakes (and oh, they make plenty), you can’t help but root for them. Even the side characters, like Ji-ung and NJ, like fuck I love them. The show never judges them for growing apart or changing and that's what I love.
By the final episode, I was an absolute mess. It’s not even that the ending is inherently tragic, but it just felt so incredibly true. Life doesn’t always have a happy ending and neither does love. Some things are meant to stay in the past.
If you’ve ever loved someone and lost them, or if you're still holding onto a summer that ended too soon, this show is definitely for you. It’s proof that the most beautiful stories aren’t always the ones that last forever.
P.S. If you don’t cry at least once, check your pulse.
