The Handmaiden is one of my favourite films of all-time, but I know it's a little different to the original novel by Sarah Waters, and as BBC dramas are usually very good, I decided to give Fingersmith a go. It was fantastically written and acted, and the costumes and sets were beautiful, though the pacing was a little slow in the first episode and a bit rushed in the last one. Sally Hawkins is always gorgeous, but she was so radiant and pretty in this, and her performance as Sue was fantastic. Elaine Cassidy was also excellent as Maud, and her dynamic with Sally is what really sold everything. Rupert Evans gave a good performance as Gentleman, but for me something was a little lacking, especially compared to Ha Jung-woo. From the rest of the cast, Imelda Staunton and Charles Dance were very good, but the latter was underutilised, in my opinion. All in all, a great miniseries, and I'd highly recommend giving it a watch, especially if you love The Handmaiden.
