Very similar to og movie in plotlines (I know the movie is based on a book) but it also has differences. Ben Mears is really charismatic and likeable in this. The film has a gritty setting and cinematography. The mom as a vampire in the coroners office was kind of hot, I’d let her bite me. I like the score/main theme, it fits the movie well. The saw trap in the basement was foul.

The second adaptation of Stephen King’s “‘Salem’s Lot” is another three hour long TV Mini Series, released 25 years after Tobe Hooper’s 1979 adaptation.
I went into this rather cautiously due to its mostly negative reception, but I gotta say that this isn’t half bad. On the contrary, this was pretty good.
Just like the previous adaptation, this one makes many changes from the book, some bigger and some smaller, it also omits some stuff and adds some stuff, but I was surprised as to how faithful this mostly was. I’d even go as far and say that this kinda stayed closer to the novel than the ‘79 adaptation.
I also liked the performances and cast, although Donald Sutherland really isn’t the perfect casting for Straker. It’s well-shot too and looks good, at least of you don’t mind it’s stylistic early 2000s characteristics.
2004s “Salem’s Lot” is another good adaptation that manages to entertain throughout its three hour runtime, but doesn’t come close to the book. And that’s perfectly fine, cause I doubt that’d be possible anyway. I think this is about as good as Hooper’s adaptation.
