So... I’m just going to be real... I only clicked on this because of McKenna Grace. That was it. That was the entire draw for me. I didn’t even know I was going to have to sit through five whole episodes before she actually showed up... I just knew she was in the cast and figured I’d give it a go... because... everything she has ever done has been incredible. I had a vague idea of what it was about because of the title, which is ominous as hell, but I went in mostly blind. And honestly? I was shocked at how incredible this was. Usually, if I'm watching something for one specific person and they aren't there, I’m checking my watch... but those first five episodes before she got screen time were actually really good. Hendrix Kate Yancey did an absolutely massive job as the younger Jan... like, she really held her own.

But... when McKenna finally gets on screen, during the fifth episode... the whole production just gets more... kick. It’s hard to describe, but the show just picked up once she arrived. It felt like the writing got more detailed and the story got more interesting because it had to go into these darker, more complex places and emotions. Everything about the production just sort of felt like it leveled up. I noticed the shots of Jake Lacy started feeling really invasive... which fits his character perfectly.. It was done so well that it actually made me feel a bit claustrophobic just watching it.

And look... I have to talk more about Jake Lacy because I genuinely thought I was watching Nicholas Hoult. And I am not kidding... for the first few minutes of the first episode, I thought it was him. But you know who he also looks like... Dexter... He looks like a straight-up mix of Nicholas Hoult and Dexter. And i am not talking about the personality of Dexter.

The whole vibe of the show was just visually stunning, too. it felt like the 70s... though i was born more than 30 years after... But It also looked like it was shot on film... it all felt very authentic though again... i wasnt alive.

It’s a heavy watch, the show doesn't hold back on showing how absolutely insane the whole situation was. But It was still really, really good. And is definetly one of the more interesting series i have seen in a while.
