I feel like I grew up during the Angry Male Comic™️ era and it always bothered me. It felt grating and inauthentic. Then you watch George Carlin and you’re like, “oh that’s why.” They’ve been trying to be him but it truly doesn’t work unless it’s George Carlin. 

Also hate to compliment Judd Appatow but this was beautifully shot and put together. I cried a lot toward the end a lot whenever Kelly Carlin spoke about him and her mom. Beautiful documentary.

The second part is much better than the first, but both are worth the watch because Carlin was a brilliant mind and watching him and people talk about him is an enormous joy.
