I did not think I would enjoy this nearly as much as I did but I can't stop thinking about how much love and effort was put into the production of this series. FUCK all the haters who think this show should have been more realistic and just using it as an excuse to be racist to the actors on this show. This is a Russian story told in english with actors without any russian accents because it is translated into english for us. That is the point of the show so you can imagine any character as any race with any haircut because it's a story told. it is NOT supposed to be completely accurate. Ewan Mcgregor destroys the lead role with great actresses to support him. The show started off very slow but got more interesting and developed as the show continued. Escpically as our protagonist got older. The finale was by far the best episode but that is not to put down how good escpically the 2nd half of the show was.

“I discovered that Papa escaped the hotel. But what happened after remains a mystery. I like to imagine them both finally free, living out the rest of their lives together. They gave me the greatest gift of life. I’ll keep them in my heart. Always.”
the last episode of this had no reason to make me sob like it did. Mary and Ewan’s performances are genuinely some of the best I’ve seen. The effects/camerawork of the flashback sequences are so aesthetically pleasing to me and the way the characters all change overtime is so fascinating.

Charming and mostly held my interest throughout. Enjoyed the “race blind” casting.
