“The main thing about horror was that it was exciting to get scared. There was an honesty to it. Because I was responding to how my body felt … kinda like porn.”
This was utterly fascinating. It put words to things I think I’ve always known, but never been able to articulate before. It gave me context where I previously had none. It gave me a new lens with which to view classic horror films through, and it added several dozen movies to my ever-growing watchlist. I learned so much!
It was rough to start, particularly in the first episode, but the second and fourth installments in particular were fantastic. I was so impressed with the talent that Bryan Fuller was able to pull together to discuss the history of queer horror, and the wealth of knowledge they all had to share. This series definitely filled a hole in LGBT and horror history, and I truly hope we get to see more content like this in the future.
