wow what a concept! the blurb on here doesn’t really describe it all to well but basically a down on his ends man kills himself, and then in the afterlife death personified feels insulted that he decided to do so and gives him a challenge to save himself from going to hell. and that challenge is actually quite the interesting idea !! basically she shoots him with her magic gun to body swap him into someone who’s life was going to end in an unspecified period of time, and his goal was to “figure out how to survive/live”.
they did a great job of having it be fun and more literal and then slowly progress into a more philosophical interpretation as time went on with the selection on who was being chosen as his next life and also what was going on big picture wise.. as what he did in each life continued to effect what happened in the next ones. idk this was all over the place genre wise which i really liked and it felt natural due to the bodies and situations changing all the time :) theres plenty of little twists along the way and i think they all made sense for the story which is rare.
i really could write a whole essay on this show purely based on its concept and more surface entertainment value, and another one (or like 3😭) on all of the layered messaging in this.
it did really lose me in the second half unfortunately.. story wise and definitely message wise, but episodes 2-4 of this are some of the best TV i’ve seen in my life so far and will leave some long lasting impact on me for suree so i still definitely recommend this. honestly you could prolly call it quits after episode 4 and walk away satisfied?
absolutely adored this cast which unfortunately isn’t really listed on here… but that also made it fun as i kept recognizing people i knew and had no idea who i was going to see next 🙅♀️
FUN FACT: genuinely nothing 😬 usually theres some crazy korean drama and cancellations and shit but nope not here.. which is a good thing i guess. my fact will unfortunately NOT be a good thing tho 😞 the actress who plays death in this.. you would know her from parasite (poor daughter!) unfortunately got thyroid cancer in 2021??? but thankfully she got that taken care of
also a freak in this drew a dead cat with its guts pouring out but i dont think that counts for my stats
