THE MOST UNDERRATED DRAMA EVERRR i fully believed i wouldnt enjoy it because of the ssireum but i ended up enjoying it smmmm
1) the romance was sooo cute, HE RECOGNISED HER FROM THE FIRST SECOND HE SAW HER‼️ his confession was wayyy tooooo cute, he loved her for 31 years, waited for her to return for 20 💔 like i feel like they didnt rlly show a key moment when they fell in love or like small moments where they fell for each other bcs they always loved each other in everyway possible, they r eachothers family, first loves, last loves, greatest loves, best friends likeee it cant get any better than that, it took her giving him ssireum advice once for him to get back to his old self N LIKE HE WAITED 20 YEARS GIUFSRUFKUSKBHFSKJBFVSJKR HE SOENT EVERYDAY REGRETTING THE FACT THAT HE LET HER GO
2) miran, thats my bby like she's honestly so strong, THE WAY NOONE RECOGNISED HER i wish they focused on her more bcs honestly the devastation she mustve felt when noone recognised her or even remembered her ☹️ she was always forgotten or left behind 💔 WDYM NONE OF UR CHILDHOOD FRIENDS REMEMBER U ik she was always holding hope that someone would recognise her even when she didnt want anyone to know bcs the last time she felt truly seen n needed was when she was with her dad 😪 atleast she got her dream of her cafe to sell coffe 🫶
3) the wasted potential that was kwak jinsu, let me js tell u the amazing plot he could've brought to the show: jinsu comes back as the coach for the ssireum team, him n baekdu bump heads - we get flashbacks of their childhood where jinsu was always jealous of him. a key part being dusik n baekdu being closer n jinsu feeling out of place bcs baekdu was the perfect kid who was close to all their friends, then baekdu starts winning ssireum awards which is the ultimate crack in their relationship once they reach high school. jinsu tries to get baekdu to believe that he hates him, he picks on him during practice n is continuously mean to him. but baekdu being baekdu lets it slide. UNTIL, jinsu recognises dusik n realises baekdu knew. baekdu sees jinsu n dusik together n gets jealous of how jinsu treats her in comparison to himself. one day, he looses it n punches him. jinsu n baekdu fight but by the end they end up smiling BCS THEIR FRIENDSHIP ALWAYS CAME FIRST. n there we go, both characters r more fleshed out, i feel like the introduction of jinsus character felt like it was leading up to this kind of thing but it never did??
4) miran n the two characters she couldve gotten with: the first example is hyeonuk n miran - he was always at the cafe n so intrigued by it, talking abt how it was never open, she figured out he was a cop n purposely mentioned dusik to him. THEY COULDVE BEEN SOMETHING HJGVHJ my boy was always at her cafe n they were always js in the same vicinity.
then we have jinsu n miran, FROM EP 1 I FEEL LIKE THEY WERE LEADING UP TO SOMETHING! they were close which was js never explained?? honestly needed a flashback of them as kids being quite close n miran being talkative with him when she was always quiet as a kid. n then when the murderer went to her cafe when he left him, SM WASTED POTENTIAL.
5) i feel like a lot of characters n plot lined fell flat in this drama for the sake of the murder mystery plot line but the vibes do make up for it (i rate based of enjoyment not how good it is) that plot line did not hit, throughout the drama i never stopped to think abt who actually did it n i felt like there were no subtle or definitive hints or signs until they started pointing fingers at that short ajhussi, i wish they chose to flesh out the character instead of the case i.e. talking more abt miran n dusiks trauma
6) the ssireum plot line was robbed bcs i enjoy it sm n then at some point it js disappeared?? also missed opportunity to create a mentor mentee dynamic between baekdu n beomsu, again i feel like they were building up a plot for beomsu n then js dropped it, he was clearly being bullied by the older ssireum players - i wish we got a runon type plot
7) however i do think that it portrayed a more slice of life feel very well, as much as i complain abt plots falling flat it adds to the feel that the drama was focusing on showing their lives in that specific moment in time n any time that was abt dusik (i.e. no high schools scenes or showing the friend group after dusik left)
