the greatest television show of all time to this day, even more remarkable when considering the target audience. incredibly rich characters, world, and themes. this show subtly shaped me and my worldview and i didn’t even know it.
incredible introduction to imperialism and it’s immeasurable suffering, the ability to find play even in the most serious of situations (aang), taoist and other eastern philosophy broadly, the importance of introspection (zuko), the rewarding endeavor of improving at a form (bending), grieving loss, justice, mercy.

watched this one summer in college with a group of friends who love it dearly from their childhoods
… i see its greatness as a kids’ show, particularly in theme, but it is a kids’ show — it moves slow, delivers said themes pretty directly, and has dialogue written for children
i’m sure i would have loved this if i watched it as a kid, but instead i probably won’t ever revisit
