BEGINS ≠ YOUTH
I grant this show merits for its amazing acting and strong storyline although i’d like to ignore the ending as it kind of just promotes this rich savior storyline that I don’t think really goes with the rest of the plot.

Although I liked Hwan he was probably my least favourite out of the main seven purely due to his storyline being the weakest. The rest showed heartbreaks and tragedy after tragedy. But Hwan’s biggest hardship was approval from his rich, ruthless dad and we’ve seen that storyline countless times and it’s never enjoying to watch. It kind of felt like the other guys were just there to be a lesson to him.

Dogeon was such a sweetheart who really worked hard in order to achieve his goals. It was hard seeing him carry his whole family on his back, all while having multiple part time jobs and being the top student in school. Like he had a lot to deal with. He was such a good brother figure to Jooan. It especially was heartbreaking seeing him lash out on him due to the built up stress.

Jooan also having to deal with the weight of his family and not wanting his father to be alone while everyone else was ready to abandon his dad. Although his dad was cruel as ever Jooan and his heart of gold still believed he could change. I mean Jooan’s final scene was crushing as he really didn’t mean it. He just wanted to help.

Jeha coming from a relatively wealthy family but being completely rejected by his stepdad and stepbrother at first. Mingook really annoyed me as a character but you could really see how he changed after what happened to Jeha. I did feel really bad for Jeha when the other guys were picking on him for being the youngest and although I know it’s banter it really hurt my heart to see.

Cein definitely had a lot on his plate from the get go but to see him repeat his mother’s steps really put the nail in the coffin. He had such a pure heart and would put everything on the line for those who he loved. I think if his dad just put a little more effort in then it would have helped a lot.

Haru traumatized and then having to relive that same trauma was tragic. He just wanted to believe he was still not ok so he didn’t have to deal with everything that happened. The boys kind of just left him after he went to the hospital which was tough to see as he really just needed someone there for him.

Hosu constantly being pushed around and abandoned was awful. You could really see how it affected him and he just didn’t want to continue going on. He was such a good big brother for Haru and give him hope and dreams when he couldn’t get it from somewhere else.

All to say all of them really did care for each other and it was weird to see them all just stop talking with each other even though they all just wanted to talk again. A great show all around with not too many episodes so it’s a fun watch.
