I don't often watch shows, let alone become invested enough to actually finish all the episodes, but when I heard of a new series written by Richard Gadd, I knew it had to be good, and Half Man didn't disappoint. Of course, it was very uncomfortable at times, but the plot was great, and the non-linear storytelling in the beginning especially grabbed my attention. What really pushed it over the edge, though, was the acting from the cast; Mitchell Robertson and Stuart Campbell were brilliant as young Niall and Ruben respectively, and Jamie Bell and Gadd took it to another level as the adult versions. I couldn't help but hate Niall for most of the series, and towards the end I found myself really sympathising with Ruben more than I'd expected to. Overall, a brilliant show, one I'd definitely recommend checking out if you haven't already.
