GTO is a very weird, conflicting show.
On one hand it is a super fun watch with a bunch of fun moments, as well as deep and serious ones. Some of the themes, such as the way relationships between teachers and students are displayed and the whole critique of the school system are ahead of its time, at least for Japan.

On the other hand lots of parts of the humor (obviously notably the sexualization of school girls) is super uncomfortable to watch and no cultural period can justify that. (I’m looking at all the people saying "it was normal in 90s Japan" as an excuse.

It is really problematic and uncomfortable to watch at times, and it feels weird to have liked this anime as much as I did. I do think, ignoring the problematic part, this has definitely been some of the most fun I’ve had with anime, at least in recent memory. I just couldn’t help but love most of these wholesome moments.

I wish I had this guy as a teacher. Yeah it’s a bit ‘insensitive’ for this day and age, but it was the 90s mannn. Hilarious show with some solid messages, need to find time to watch again.

This is the goat of Anime  comedy, after so many years it’s still funny, easily enjoyable and  the most important thing is while you watch it Eikichi Onizuka teaches you important lessons about your life that are actually relevant and useful. This anime really reminds me of my brother and makes it more impactful for me. It reminds me of all the great memories we had. 

The anime itself: I can confidently say it exceeded all my expectations. From start to finish, everything about it was top-tier. The quality, the humour, and overall performance were simply outstanding. It’s clear that a lot of horniness and care went into creating something this good.

What stood out the most was how seamless and enjoyable the entire experience felt. Every aspect worked perfectly together, making it not only effective but genuinely enjoyable to watch. It’s rare to find something that delivers on all fronts like this.
