"It's alright. I beat the strongest guy already".
Ikebukuro West Gate Park saikouuu. IWGP or should i call it DSOAT for the drippiest show of all time. The first thing i should mention obviously are the fits, everyone on the show actually feels natural when comes to styling in Y2K era. IWGP felt nostalgic for me altough it's my first time viewing it and no hell idea how the y2k life actually are in Japan back then. I don't know how in the world someone come up with this bloody story in 2000, far before i was born. This TV series contains critique with gangster scheme, adult industry, and even socialism. I could be wrong but absolutely these are avant-garde genre they live in, it is experimental as shits, radical, and innovative(in score, shots-angle, transition, etc).
Makoto and Takashi, the leads characters, which are the heart of the entire show. These fabulous actors delivers intense, and powerful performance, with Makoto, tough guy with crazy surrounded people and Takashi or the King of G boys for Girigiri Boys, that always in high crazy personality with marijuana leaves on his necklace is absolutely my favorite chara from the entire series. I dare to say this series is influenced by The Warriors(1979), but the main characters(Makoto) is The Cyrus, without joining any gang/sides. Almost forget to mention the iconic sickass intro they had on each every episodes with rock band called SADS.
This series affected my personality through Makoto that always want to be in middle/half and half about everything, naive is the word. But great things about him, Makoto changing through the episodes, from fearless, heartless, stubborn boy, to reliable and cautious person. Makoto both lost Kana and Hikaru to just for saving Ikebukuro. One last quotes from The King of G-Boys:
"I’m not telling you not to do bad things. I’m telling you not to do lame things".
