This may now be my third favorite anime of all time.
I saw someone comment somewhere online that people like to make jokes about watching Kill La Kill for "the plot" but the actual plot is so good that you end up neglecting "the plot." I agree with that statement 100%. A few episodes in, I completely forgot how scantily clad everyone was. The plot and characters are genuinely incredibly captivating, and the dub is superb.
It's also actually a great satire on female objectification in anime (of course I'm not the best spokesperson for this matter, but I saw it this way) and a bunch of shonen tropes. It's hilarious, and at the same time balances that absurd hilarity perfectly with edge of your seat drama. Plus, I love the concept. Evil clothes and a rebel alliance militia of exhibitionists calling themselves "Nudist beach?" C'mon that's so up my alley.
It's not thought-provoking or anything (which films and stories don't have to be in order to be "good") and it's definitely not for everyone (if you don't like anime or you're prudish in any way then it's probably not your thing) but I'm a sucker for earned melodrama, high stakes, and "Aw fuck yeah" moments, and this series had it all. I binged this in three days cause I couldn't stop watching. Kinda sad there was never a second season, but at least it had a nice bittersweet ending.
