Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Review up to Season 4 Episode 9:
Throughout my MCU rewatch, I've been trying to watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. at the correct chronological points between each movie release. It's been pretty difficult to find an accurate guide online for when to watch them; everyone says something different. I'm roughly halfway through, and I've enjoyed this series a lot more than I thought I would. When I first started season 1, it was difficult to believe that it would improve to the point where it would be genuinely good, but it's gotten better and weirder since it first started. I think it's great. It's fun to see the ways they tie different plot points from the movie franchise into the episodes. They get past that awkward, cheesy phase pretty early on, but there are a few silly but charming moments after that point. It reminds me of the time when Arrow and The Flash were at their peak. They try very hard to keep things as grounded as possible while upping the stakes and amping up the action every season. I've been impressed by a lot of things within the show, from the visual effects to the emotional performances, the action, the writing; it's better than most of what the MCU has to offer. Some moments defy logic and make you wonder why they were included at all, but in the grand scheme of things, I've seen much worse. As a whole, I'd give the entire show 4 stars out of 5 up to this point. I'll return with another review after I've finished the final episode.

As far as this special for Yo-Yo goes, which fits in the middle of Season 4, it's short and sweet. We get some more screentime for her, which is nice, but it doesn't amount to that much, all things considered. Some cool little Easter eggs help provide some context for when this is set within the MCU, and we get a bit more development between her and Mack as she finds her place within S.H.I.E.L.D. I wouldn't call it necessary watching, but if you're going to watch the rest of the show, you might as well squeeze it in. I'd give Slingshot a 3/5.

I have finally finished Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and I'm back to write my review of the second half (give or take a few episodes) of the show.
The characters in AoS are what make it so special. There are a few here and there who get on my nerves, such as Deke, whom I wanted to strangle the entire time, but even he has a significant role to play and moments when he gets to shine. No one is left out or forgotten about, and I really appreciated that. They are the heart of this show and the reason I kept watching.
The action never ceased to surprise me. Especially the scenes when May and Daisy get to kick some ass, I always noticed how great the fight choreography was. Even the more CGI-heavy scenes are cool and have a unique feel to them. Speaking of CGI, the visual effects shocked me at how good they were. Hive looked incredible in season three and is arguably up there with one of the best-looking full CGI characters, especially for a TV show and for the time. Some destructive shots in the season 3-4 area were incredible, and in the later seasons, when some serious setting changes are made, they get really creative and ambitious, and I respect that.
If I'm being honest, I kind of hated the second half of season 5 and all of season 6. It's the primary reason it took me so long to finish this show. For whatever reason, they decided to make things really goofy and convoluted, and I didn't care for it. I prefer the more grounded seasons where things could get crazy but still be easy to follow and fall in the realm of possibility for a Marvel show about secret agents. I would have left all of the space/time stuff out of it entirely.
Season 4, on the other hand, awesome. Gabriel Luna's part is one of my favorite comic-to-screen characters in recent memory. I kept wanting him to come back, whether it made sense for him to or not. The Framework was really stressful in a good kind of way and surprisingly emotional. Fitz becomes a central and complex character, which was unexpected and engaging to watch. Watching him unravel and alter the course of the team forever was really something. It was a strange season looking back, but also one of the most memorable ones.
I'm content with how things ended in season 7, even if things got absolutely bonkers towards the end. It's the characters that I care about, and I enjoyed the closing of their arcs.
Watch this show! It has a lot of heart, some of the best characters in the MCU, some fantastic action, and exciting moments. It gets a little wild and inconsistent in the second half, but the stakes had to be upped, and they certainly were.

agents of shield and its seven seasons are honestly the best piece of marvel media that is out there. its characters are so well created; their emotions are acted so raw and realistic and so deeply human that it's just beautiful. big credits to the very talented cast. this show could not have existed or gone on so long without them.
unlike many marvel projects that prioritize spectacle and fight scenes over emotional stories and relationships between the characters, agents of shield manages to balance those two extremes perfectly.
one of the show's greatest strengths is its perfect ensemble cast. every single character, from phil coulson, to daisy johnson, leo fitz, jemma simmons and alphonso mackenzie experiences growth over the course of the series. by the time you reach the final season, you're not just watching agents fighting aliens or going on missions, you're watching a family who has fought, healed and stayed together through some very hard times.
the plotting of this awesome show is just as impressive. agents of shield captures every single thing you could have ever imagined in a marvel show. think time travel, alternate realities, alien invasions, some digital world, inhumans, and of course hydra, it's all in this show. it gets better every season. the show kept reinventing itself, thinking of new and better storylines every single season, which made it fresh every time while still honoring its core themes.
and then there's fitzsimmons. my favorite relationship that's ever been introduced in a marvel project. it's one of the best love stories ever told. their relationship is not rushed like many mcu relationships, but it's built slowly over the years/season. fitz and simmons are torn apart again and again, but they always find their way back to each other. by the end of the show, you feel like you've lived their love story with them. fitzsimmons will have my heart forever 🩷
overall, the character i love the most is daisy johnson, brought to life perfectly by the very talented actress chloe bennet. daisy's journey from a hacker named skye to the powerful inhuman quake is one of the strongest character arcs in the whole mcu. she never stops fighting for what's right. chloe bennet's performance gives daisy so so much heart, you can feel every struggle, every loss and every triumph she goes through. i need to see her in another marvel project so bad. her character (like many other agents of shield characters) does not deserve to be abandoned by marvel like this.
above all, what sets agents of shield apart is its heart. while many marvel projects are remembered for their battles and strong villains, this show is and will be remembered for its emotion. it's about the sacrifices people would make for one another, and the belief that even ordinary people can change the world.
for the people who are hesitating to watch this show because it has 7 seasons (which is a lot, i know), please go watch it. i too was hesitating, but i did end up watching it, and i have no regrets. i have never ever seen a show like this beautiful masterpiece.

the plotting of this awesome show is just as impressive. agents of shield captures every single thing you could have ever imagined in a marvel show. think time travel, alternate realities, alien invasions, some digital world, inhumans, and of course hydra, it's all in this show. it gets better every season. the show kept reinventing itself, thinking of new and better storylines every single season, which made it fresh every time while still honoring its core themes.
and then there's fitzsimmons. my favorite relationship that's ever been introduced in a marvel project. it's one of the best love stories ever told. their relationship is not rushed like many mcu relationships, but it's built slowly over the years/season. fitz and simmons are torn apart again and again, but they always find their way back to each other. by the end of the show, you feel like you've lived their love story with them. fitzsimmons will have my heart forever 🩷
overall, the character i love the most is daisy johnson, brought to life perfectly by the very talented actress chloe bennet. daisy's journey from a hacker named skye to the powerful inhuman quake is one of the strongest character arcs in the whole mcu. she never stops fighting for what's right. chloe bennet's performance gives daisy so so much heart, you can feel every struggle, every loss and every triumph she goes through. i need to see her in another marvel project so bad. her character (like many other agents of shield characters) does not deserve to be abandoned by marvel like this.
above all, what sets agents of shield apart is its heart. while many marvel projects are remembered for their battles and strong villains, this show is and will be remembered for its emotion. it's about the sacrifices people would make for one another, and the belief that even ordinary people can change the world.
for the people who are hesitating to watch this show because it has 7 seasons (which is a lot, i know), please go watch it. i too was hesitating, but i did end up watching it, and i have no regrets. i have never ever seen a show like this beautiful masterpiece.
