shoutout to my mom for putting me onto these legends at a very young age.

I swear, this biopic gets better and better upon rewatch. seriously, I’m upset by how UNDERRATED this mini series is. from the music to the casting and flawless execution by these young men. this is a true experience that so many are missing out on. smh. I’ll keep its legacy alive!!!!

This was phenomenal. The casting was incredible. I love Luke James. I really didn’t know too much about New Edition going into this but I knew they were a big deal and I knew of Bobby (duh, I grew up with a mom who loved Whitney) but my knowledge was limited. You can tell so much time and care went into this and I really hope it’s in the conversation of great biopics if it isn’t already.

idc what anyone says, I love biopics as long as they are well made and this one ABSOLUTELY is. I mean wow, it’s hard to believe that this was a made-for-tv movie. This musical biopic is up there with The Temptations, The Jacksons: An American Dream, and Straight Outta Compton. 

The 6 members of New Edition all had a hand in creating this which really helped its authenticity. Everyone is perfectly casted, but the standouts are definitely Algee Smith (Ralph Tresvant) and Woody McClain (Bobby Brown). Again, Wood Harris is amazing in his role, but when is he not?

The final scene where they perform at the BET 25th Anniversary special is insane, especially compared to the real footage. These guys didn’t come to play!! I had chills for 10 straight minutes, similar to when I saw the Live Aid scene in Bohemian Rhapsody.

Anyway, I love New Edition and they deserve their flowers
