just finished this, I don’t even know what I was expecting. It does take somewhat a neutral stand which I don’t respect.
It’s just the fact that you would show Palestinians fighting back as if it’s something bad, and the fact that it kept going on and on about Al-Nakba, but it doesn’t even know what that word means, doesn’t know what it means to the people or in history, fucking accurate history that those fuckass white Brits don’t know shit about, because they just like their version where their hands are clean and all they do is help other countries when that is not the truth
And I’m so pissed because the show is actually so good, plot, performances, music, cinematography, dialogue, everything.
it’s all so good, but I can’t. I cannot like it
I can’t because it fucks around a real issue, something that is happening in real time, people are getting affected, innocents are dying and you’re making a thriller out of it? and the fact that it’s not even pro-Palestine, it does take a neutral stand, and at the very end it’s not even neutral.
I don’t know much about john le carre’s political takes, but in this particular one it’s like he’s so afraid of cancel culture that he’s tiptoeing around the case, so at some point in the show, you would think that he doesn’t approve of the genocide that’s going on, but at other points you just feel like he is an outraging Zionist fuck, which is really why it fucked with me, because it doesn’t take a stand
now that I’m thinking about it. Maybe it was intentional, that when he wrote it he wanted the reader to feel the same confusion Charlie felt about where she stood or what she believed, if it was intentional then he did a good job, but not really because if you’re a person with fucking brains, you know you cannot be confused about this case, you just can’t, unless you’re evil or stupid
and I HATE the “one question at a time” bit, it was so frustrating, I was supposed to know even a little bit about this vague character, instead, all I know is that he has a thing for a Charlie, well that won’t do buddy, his character is awful
Florence is a delight, and that’s the only positive thing I have to say about the show
it doesn’t get a rating this time either
