Slightly bastardising the original story but Agatha Christie plots are too perfect to mess up that badly. I had read the book but I remember the ending while I was watching the last episode so I did have a somewhat of a revelation moment.
The additions to the story were mostly unnecessary and time wasting. Poirot is a force of nature, you do not need to give him stupid backstories. If Agatha didn't, you don't need to.
John Malkovich was not as bad as I expected as Poirot. He was fine but nowhere near an Ustinov or a Suchet. This was probably the most normal role Rupert Grint has played. Rest of the cast was serviceable, nothing special.
Overall, a meh adaptation. Just read the damn book.
