oh nicky, nicky, nicky, what were you thinking ?
Despite the historical inaccuracies and illegitimate historians this was very enjoyable, but having those inconsistencies in what is claimed to be a ‘documentary’ significantly brings down my rating. I will say though this series does humanise the family a lot and gives a different perspective on the stubbornness of Nicholas, showing him to more conform to what he had known to work and idolised (his father), rather than conforming to more modern, progressive ideologies. I really appreciated viewing him through that lens and being able to show (somewhat) sympathy for his situation. Overall, I think this series did aid me a wee bit in my studies but I wouldn’t recommend using this as proper historical academia.
