Now as an OVA or a little anime
This 37 minute anime on the other hand is far from essential blame!. It's basically seven vignettes taken from the manga in no particular context and the only chance you have making any sense of it is if you've read the manga and that doesn't even help much. 37 minutes of dull animation set to boring, bland technomusic. I'm glad it exists but it doesn't really need to.

Rating this as manga and a little bit later as an OVA
Blame! is one of the most unique sci-fi manga I’ve ever read. It’s less about story in the traditional way and more about atmosphere vibe, scale, and isolation. the series delivers a haunting experience with minimal dialogue and massive environmental storytelling. Not for everyone to understand even though it’s just pictures. The world feels incomprehensibly huge almost oppressive and that’s where the manga really shines.
The art by Tsutomu Nihei is incredible. Every panel is packed with brutalist architecture, empty space, and mechanical detail that makes the setting feel alive (and dead at the same time). You don’t just read Blame! you consume it. It gets into your head. Domochevsky was the goat of the whole series, carrying it on his back.
Only thing i didn’t particularly like is the ending. I didn’t really understand it so I had to ask mr, ChatGPT and also Reddit it was just too much to handle, and I wasn’t even sure it was the ending so I had to triple check🙃
