Django Unchained
“I like the way you die, boy.”
Literal perfection. This is, I believe my third viewing and still I had no desire to grab my phone, get up to grab food, or hit pause at all. It’s 2:45 runtime feels like an hour and a half. Not a single second is wasted.
I was staring at my shelf with all my physical media and realized I’ve only played my blu ray of this once, so I watched this. It never even dawned on me that it was a fitting film for it being Juneteenth. The day that celebrates our second Independence Day, marking the day of freedom of enslaved African Americans. While it reminds people of a dark time in American history, it’s a day that can be looked at as a turning point in the right direction for us as a country, even though we still had/have a long way to go. I say this in response to [that politician]’s comments today about us having “too many non-working holidays.” While I can understand his words, saying this on a day that deserves to be a federal holiday is rather insulting.
