Phantom Thread
“i am older and i see things differently, and i finally understand you.”
such an intimate, delicate, and beautifully crafted masterpiece, this romantic journey illustrates a unique perspective of love, one in which love is shaped and manipulated by the fragile strings of each character’s heart. a visually stunning film, its cinematography invites awe through elegant production design, while the use of silence and long takes feels truly ingenious. a few sprinkles of comedy are blended into the script, adding a subtle charm that feels especially valuable for a romance. Jonny Greenwood’s score is, as ever, layered, moody, haunting, and clever on its own. it is used so sympathetically that it almost becomes its own presence within the film, shaping its atmosphere. i can’t wait to revisit this in a couple of years and appreciate it even more.
