Poor Things
Something about this movie man….
Emma Stone is so good as Bella Baxter in this film, it’s almost unbelievable. I don’t care what anyone says, the academy was 100000% justified to give the award to her over Lily Gladstone (although she was great also).
Everything about this film gets you so invested into its delightfully strange world, whether it’s the story itself, the characters, the wacky set and costume design, the score, and most of all, Lanthimos’s 100% committal to all of these aspects.
At the end of the day, Poor Things is a coming of age story, but about the weirdest one I’ve ever seen. It’s so strange to a point where you feel like you’re experiencing the world for the first time right alongside Bella.
I recently saw the teaser for Lanthimos’s new film, Kinds of Kindness, and I am beyond excited to see what him and Emma Stone will create next.
