Sinners
*It's magic what we do. It's sacred... and* big.
Was magic in a regular theatre, was magic in IMAX, still magic at home. Now the most Oscar nominated film of all time, Sinners has already earned its place among the greats in cinematic history.
I just can't get tired of this film. It's so enrapturing to me, and even at home it's still one of the best cinematic experiences you can have. Overjoyed at the nominations for Michael, Wunmi and Delroy! For a while in the race it looked like Wunmi and Delroy weren't making it, but the Academy seems to love this film as much as I do.
The Göransson soundtrack is truly magical in this. Autumn Durald Arkapaw's cinematography is incredible, and I'm overjoyed that she's putting it down for all my Filipinos working in the film industry. What else can I say about Ryan Coogler that hasn't already been said and repeated time and time again? As someone who has quite literally seen all his released filmography, I have to consider myself a true fan of his. He's reached a whole new level with Sinners.
Watched the 4K Blu-ray. I'm still somewhat disappointed with the picture quality at points, but the fact of the matter is that it's a beautiful film and it still looks very crisp here. The real standout is the brilliant Dolby Atmos presentation, which shines the most in the film's most iconic sequence where Sammie plays I Lied to You. Brings out the best in an already incredible sounding film.
