Vertigo

Perhaps the greatest use of color in any motion picture. What Hitchcock does with color in this film is something I can't even begin to truly fathom. Everything in this film is so intentional and brilliant. The editing, the shot composition, what the camera shows, THE COLORS, it all sits in my mind 24/7 because of how amazing it all is. Kim Novak's performance in this is one of my very favorite in all of film. The storyline is also just so gripping and engaging. So many twists and turns, reveals, brilliant character moments. One of the most perfect screenplays ever written. It is probably the best example of how populist and entertaining film can also be brilliant filmmaking. A true milestone in the history of cinema.
