Conclave
This movie does such an amazing job of combining the church and modernity. For me, the church, and especially the papacy, has always been associated with an era that seems to have overstayed its welcome. But this movie presents the church is such a way that seems to move past that conception I’ve held for so long.
Many times throughout this film I found myself thinking of my friends who are religious. Not necessarily even Catholic but of any background. I found myself thinking of their faith and my lack of faith. Of the role that faith plays in their lives and mine as well.
Watching this less than a week after Pope Francis died was a very moving experience. I talked with one of my friends recently about the conclave process, and what it will mean going forward for not only Catholics but for a wide range of people all around the world. That conversation and this viewing made me think of my queer friends and how much I appreciate and love them. s/o Rome ❤️
Don’t call it a comeback.
