An incredible debut from two phenomenal directors that really is a product of its time. The erotic thriller is sadly defunct for the most part in 2021. Not because it wasn’t the best form of film, trust me, it was. But because audiences and the general public became intoxicated with wholesomeness and christlike sinlessness in film after columbine and 9/11. These two bombastic moments in American history ruined secularism and sexiness in the public eye. No longer could any media be presented in its naked self without controversy. All-in-all, we’re worse off for the fact that the Wikipedia list of erotic thrillers shrinks to microscopic size in the 2010s compared to the 80s and 90s, and Bound stands near the top of the mountain of the best films we received from that ride.
