Lost Highway

“I like to remember things my own way, how I remember them, not necessarily the way they happened.” - With this rewatch of Lost Highway, I finally hold a complete grasp on what I believe David Lynch intended with this non linear masterpiece, and let me just say, it’s the sweetest feeling when the dots connect on this. I must add, a midnight highway drive listing to I’m Deranged is nonnegotiable after watching this nightmarish dreamscape. I now see this as one of David Lynch’s best films, one that’s already climbing my rankings, and one that very well could one day be my all time favorite of his. An untouchable nightmarish landscape of identity, and the most uniquely surreal film environment I’ve ever experienced. David Lynch is the greatest to ever do it, and it’s frankly not close, that is in my eyes of course. Lastly, I didn’t appreciate this at all on my first watch of the film, but Lost Highway probably has the greatest directed sex scene of all time. 98/100
