There is so much beauty in storytelling. The way this film shows how art can be used to bring people together, and a way to portray emotions is nothing short of spectacular. I can understand people not loving this movie because of its slow pace but it works so well for me. There are so many slow and peaceful moments that just make me feel every single time. The first half an hour being one of the romantic pieces of art I have seen this year and then the heartbreak and tragedy that comes afterwards left me in an awful state in that cinema, again. I was sweating and I could feel my heart coming out of my chest. The way Chloe Zhao directs this tragedy leaves such a lasting impression on its audience. Jessie, Paul and Jacobi are all superstars and are putting in performances that could all easily win an award. They are so tender and beautiful that you are left amazed watching them on screen. I know people have an issue with that song being used at the end of the movie but I seriously think it’s the most perfect use of it. That whole final 30 mins is just incredible and left me in awe. The way that art can portray those emotions that William could not speak is nothing short of epic. Watching all the arms come towards the performer will never not make me weep like a baby. It’s such a beautiful way to finish a story of this magnitude that I adored just as much on rewatch.
