BEEF
such a phenomenal show. Steven Yeun might be the best actor ever man. so compelling. him and Pattinson are some of the best ever at using their eyes to convey emotion.
i really believe this guy could play anything. he's such a chameleon; like I don't just mean versatility in character, but also the aura from role to role. he seems to have a really good understanding of how to carry himself when he's the lead versus just a side character. like I can see him in something like The Rip, or Nope, where he'll do a solid job but will never steal the frame completely and draw attention to his role more than the story requires. but then he can lead in something like this or Minari and he really just carries the weight of the entire thing on his back. the way he shifts his aura like this in each thing he does, for each character he plays, is something I've never really seen before.
this isn't to say that many actors who are often type cast as "side characters" can't lead films, since they have and have done really well. many actors can play completely different characters. but I'm saying that I don't ever feel like I'm watching a completely different ACTOR. Steven Yeun has this mad quality. not to mention his incredible VA work in Invincible too.
he's one of the best in the game i hope he keeps leading stuff.
anyway this show is really really really good. an all timer season of television. i can relate to so much of this, whether it's the more specific asian immigrant stuff or just the broader human things. every character in this is so interesting to watch too, they really cooked with every single side character here. also, aside from being a great human drama, it's pretty hilarious too. and the song choices are just some of the best ever.
feel like I'll keep rewatching this.
