Phantom Thread

fucking hell this is gorgeous. everything about this is so tender, so exact, so beautiful, purposeful. the cinematography, the sharpness, this looks almost as good as The Master. the grain, the texture, the hand-craftsmanship, the use of colours; it all just pops. the score here might be the best in all of PTA's films; Jonny Greenwood is truly the perfect companian to Paul Thomas Anderson's visuals. i can't help but laugh when i see "written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson" at the end of his films. it's so wondrous to me. he's so varied with each film and yet they all feel so personal. this is as distant as it is close. as funny as it is dejected. Alma and Reynolds' relationship is as beautiful as it is toxic. everything in this film is truly aching with both chaos and delicate perfection. fucking hell this is a piece of art.  the pacing is also wonderful. you finish this and really feel like you've just watched a movie. every single frame feels fully directed with a vision. i seriously don't know how to put it in words, this film is both terrifying and attractive.
