Normal People

There’s this scene in the last chapter, after crossing her mom on the street and her ignoring them, that Marianne asks Cornell's mom about what does people think about her mom, and she says “they think she’s odd”. I think that’s such a perfect nail in the coffin to her character development. Marianne always felt so strange, odd, abnormal, because she grew up in a strange household, with a odd mother and an abusive brother. But she’s just normal. She’s a caring, forgiving, smart person that thinks she’s shit, because she’s surrounded by horrible people.  Normal People aren’t really normal, but it’s normal to feel bad about yourself. Even though you’re not bad at all.
