A Clockwork Orange
When Kubrick was making this movie, there is no way he didn't understand how much of a genius he was, that goes for his entire filmography but still, he was once again way too ahead of his time.
Like with almost (if not every) Kubrick film that I have seen, there lies a certain absurdity in the background of every scene. It is to a humorous level where the characters ridiculous statements, thoughts, and actions make the viewer scoff. It's as if the most obvious wrongs in the world are unknown in the world that Kubrick's film is set in. In doing this, it evidently makes the theme resonate all the more with the viewer. In my opinion this is most effectively done in possibly the most controversial film of all time, Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange. Satire is so heavily used to put forward the themes of morality versus logicality, as well as giving commentary on the disgusting nature of violence and the absurdity of how society deals with it. The beginning is one of the best sequences in cinema I have ever witnessed, and although the 2nd act may be a slight step down from the beginning and end, it is still gripping social commentary and greatly intrigues me. Masterpiece in every way.
